Flux balance analysis of Plasmodium falciparum growth and energy metabolism
[摘要] ENGLISH ABSTRACT: Genome-scale network reconstructions serve as an ideal tool for the modeling oflarge, complex metabolic networks. In this study we use ux-balance analysis toinvestigate key amino acid dependencies of Plasmodium falciparum growth. Ourmodel was able to produce a realistic ux distribution geared for the optimalproduction of biomass. We were able to simulate parasite growth in a variety ofconditions and assess the favourability of these conditions for optimal growth.To demonstrate the applicability of the model we additionally simulate the responseof the model to the introduction of an antimalarial agent, atovaquone.
