Buccal mucosa lesionsare a significant health problem. There are different risk factors favoringits appearance, e.g. quality of prostheses. We made a observational, analytical,longitudinal and retrospective study of case and control between September 2006and January 2008 in Stomatology Faculty of Havana City, to identify prosthesisquality as risk factor in appearance of buccal mucosa lesions. We evidencedthat in case-group, the 77, 4% used prosthesis of a poor quality, and that 85,8% of control used prosthesis of a good quality. We conclude that prosthesisquality was a risk factor in appearance of buccal mucosa lesions. The more frequentbuccal lesions associated with use of stomatologic prosthesis were the sub-prosthesisstomatitis and commissural cheilosis.
