The surgical removal of the retained third molarsis the most common surgery performed by maxillofacial surgeons, even in a prophylacticway, and it is associated with trans- and postoperative complications. A casewith displacement of a fragment of the left lower third molar towards the parapharyngealspace during its surgical exeresis is presented. It is a rare case due to itsfrequency and to the treatment used in this complication, since a few caseshave been reported in international literature and none in our country.
