Die meerwoordige leksikale item in Afrikaans

[摘要] ENGLISH ABSTRACT: This study examines a subset of the Afrikaans lexicon,namely multiword lexical items like the following: metbehulp van, op een na, met die deur in die huis val, omdie bos lei, die swaard van Damokles, ad hoc, kant enwal.A description is given of the concepts lexical item andmultiword lexical item. It is shown that multiwordlexical items possess characteristics like fixedness,idiomaticity and lexicalization in different degrees.The theoretical framework of the study is that ofcognitive grammar. The cognitive semantics approach iscontrasted with that of structural and generativegrammar. It is shown that the semantics of multiwordlexical items can best be described within the theory ofmotivation of cognitive semantics by studying themotivatedness of a few idioms and particle verbs inAfrikaans.The study concludes with a classification of themultiword lexical items in Afrikaans.
