Antonin Artaud en Georg Baselitz : 'n psigo-analitiese perspektief as konteks vir my eie skilderwerk

[摘要] ENGLISH SUMMARY: In this thesis I shall create a context for my own painting bydiscussing the works of A. Artaud and G. Baselitz.As a general introduction to A. Artaud, the first chapter shall entail adiscussion of his theatrical and poetical ideals. This shall be followedby a (rather limited) reading of a few psychoanalytical approaches toart. These first two chapters ought to serve as a reference structurefor the following discussions of Artaud's imagery and the extent towhich such imagery can also be found in Baselitz's painting andsculpture. A discussion of similar thematics and imagery in my ownpainting, as well as a discussion of Postmodernism as an intrinsicallyfragmentary and Artaudian anti-Classical discourse concludes the thesis.Themes of importance shall be:the opposition of Culture and anti-/non-Culture;the work of art as a 'Gesamtwelt'-experience (suggestive of, inpsychoanalytical terms, prenatal experience);the intuitive as opposed to the cerebral aspects of esthetic discourse;andthe theme of sexuality and psychological fragmentation in thestructuring of a coherent Self.
