Reviewed during the survey, was the medical status ofthe clients, as well as certain aspects of the rehabilitation process. The data wasanalysed using the Statistical Package of Social Sciences (SPSS) as well as theStatistical Analysis System (SAS) computer programmes. The study sampleconsisted of 168 clients. A significant finding in the study was that the mean ageof the study population was 59 years. Hypertension was the most common riskfactor present in this group. There is some indication from the results thatapproximately half of the clients were not hospitalised post-stroke. A positivefinding in the study was that the majority of clients were referred for rehabilitationwithin 12 weeks post-stroke. Although a team of professionals was available tomanage the stroke clients, the services of the dietician and the social workerappear to have been under utilised.
