A study was conductedto identify the causes of rejection of total prostheses in patients from thefamily physician's offices of "Guillermón Moncada" People'sCouncil of "Carlos J. Finlay" Teaching Polyclinic, in Santiago deCuba municipality, from January to December, 2004. The study group was madeup of 152 aged individuals of both sexes who underwent an intraoral physicalexamination. Surveys were done to make easy the obtention of results. It wasobserved a higher rejection of prostheses in females aged 65-69 by maladjustment,inadequate states and functional deficiencies. Therefore, it was recommendedto extend the investigation to all the family physician's offices and to solvethe problem to attain a better quality of life in the elderly.
