Intestinal perforation is a rare complicationof retrograde cleansing enemas and its incidence is unknown. We relate the caseof a 69 years old patient that underwent a surgery for intestinal obstruction.Afterwards, during preparation for colostomy withdrawal with use of cleansingenema, he showed signals of peritonitis. Therefore, we should remember thispossible and grave complication, sometimes not diagnosed for an absent clinicalhistory, and at the same time to propose an aggressive conduct in order to improvethe prognosis.
