Caracterizaci贸n de 谩cidos grasos de hojas de Pedilanthus tithymaloides (L.) Poit.

[摘要] INTRODUCTION: Pedilanthus tithymaloides (L) Poit. is used in the traditional medicine but there are few studies on its chemical composition. OBJECTIVE: to identify metabolites present in extracts of less polarity performed in leaves of P. tithymaloides.METHODS: we treat the vegetal material according previously performed pharmacologic studies, and we used thin-layer chromatography, column chromatography, and gas chromatography coupled to mass, to characterize components isolated from one of the fractions obtained by divided crystallization from chloroform extract of leaves of this species.RESULTS: it was possible to identify 11 peaks by means of Chrom-mass equipment cart library corresponding to fatty acids present in extract; where the more significant are the 7 palmitic methilester acid and the stearic acid as the majority componentsCONCLUSIONS: leaves of P. tithymaloides have natural fatty acids obtained from minor polarity fractions by means of saponification process.
