Zur Didaktisierung von Literatur im Fremdsprachenunterricht: Yoko Tawadas Bioskoop der Nacht und der Erwerb einer symbolischen Kompetenz auf B1-Niveau

[摘要] ENGLISH ABSTRACT : This thesis aims to make a contribution to the field of literature in foreign language teaching in a South African university context. On the basis of Claire Kramsch's concept of symbolic competence, the thesis explores the question of how the acquisition of the objectives set out in Kramsch's concept can be reached be means of literary texts in foreign language teaching, with a focus on level B1. The thesis furthermore examines the potential of Bioskoop der Nacht, a German text written by Japanese author Yoko Tawada, to facilitate the acquisition of a symbolic competence. On the basis of Kramsch's theory as well as an interpretation of Tawada's Text, four lesson plans are developed for students taking German at third year level at Stellenbosch University. The thesis also consists of an empirical component, in which two lesson plans are to be taught in the mentioned German course with the aim of drawing conclusions on their applicability.
