Evaluation of the quality of HIV/AIDS counselling and testing program at George Stegman ARV Clinic

[摘要] ENGLISH ABSTRACT:The purpose of the study was to evaluate the quality of voluntary counselling andtesting program at George Stegman ARV Clinic, with the aim of determining howwell does the program operate and what it has achieved since its inceptionNon-experimental quantitative design i.e. cross sectional design together withsurvey design was used to plan on gathering the data and make conclusionsData was collected through open and closed questionnaires handed to therespondents to fill and return back to the researcher. Another method of datacollection was through video-recording the counselling observations to assessthe standard of counselling quality and content.The results revealed , lack of superiors 'support and supervision to the HIV/AIDScounselor's performance, lack of resources to operate effective and efficientcounselling service and minimal consultations amongst the NGO's, FBO's andhome based care centers.Despite the efforts of the Department of Health to scale-up the voluntarycounselling and testing availability and accessibility, the George Stegmanmanagement is confronted with challenges to improve and monitor their VCT siteto sustain its effectiveness. The recommendations were drawn that identified theloopholes; therefore the issues that need urgent attention should be addressed
