Ode to Dementia
[摘要] Who are you? She asks with a tilted head Like a globe on an axis Spinning with thoughts, questions In perpetual haphazard flight As answers whiz by in a parallel universe Never to transect the very questions. Her eyes, creased by years of crumpled troubles Shoved under her sunken eyebags Scan my face, trying to Decipher The letters to my name. Her hands, needlessly twiddling The invisible August air Perpetuated in an oscillatory motion Carving out alphabets of thoughts Of everything but the present. My face, once a familiar presence Entrenched into her soul as a loved one Is now only a shadow, Still walking behind her but Whose image is now darkened, Indecipherable.
