Lung Fissures Detection With Transthoracic Ultrasound: Is It Simply a Matter of Artifacts?
[摘要] Figures Figure 1 A-D, The hyperechoic pleural line and the vertical artifacts (arrow) can be also detected in the postpneumonectomy space as shown in (A: transthoracic ultrasound scan; B: the same postpneumectomy space on CT scan). An intraoperative scan of a lung fissure clearly demonstrates that no fissure is visible (C: intraoperative ultrasound scan; D: intraoperative picture of the corresponding fissure with the ultrasound probe on). We read the article by Zanforlin et al1 in this issue of CHEST that focused on the ability of transthoracic ultrasound to detect lung fissures. This working group was constructed to share the authors’ current experience regarding transthoracic ultrasound. Despite this noble aim, we think the article is flawed by some conceptual and methodologic problems.
