Burying Our Heads in the Sand: Cross-Contamination During Bronchoscopy

[摘要] The spread of infection during bronchoscopy is a well-known but rarely reported phenomenon. A breach in the disinfection protocol is the most common culprit for this complication.^1-6 Surprisingly, despite advancements in the technology, the risk continues, and the evidence is building.⁷ More specialized bronchoscopes and instrumentation are likely to amplify the burden upon the practice of bronchoscopy. In our opinion, the Interventional Pulmonology community has buried its head in the sand regarding this issue.
