Asthma/COPD Overlap: A Gene by Environment Interaction?

[摘要] Asthma/COPD overlap (ACO) is a recently identified phenotype of COPD,¹ with patients experiencing a poorer quality of life and higher mortality compared with patients who have either isolated-COPD or isolated-asthma.^2,3 However, currently, there are no firmly established diagnostic criteria to precisely distinguish this phenotype of obstructive lung disease from COPD and asthma. The biology of ACO is also not well described.
