SIRS in the Time of Sepsis-3: What About the Children?
[摘要] The editorial in CHEST (January 2018), by Steven Q. Simpson,1 identifies important controversies when defining sepsis, and we would like to highlight that the difficulties raised pose even higher challenges for children. While our colleagues caring for adult patients have abandoned systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) as a requirement for sepsis, and have redefined sepsis as a dysregulated host response to infection resulting in organ dysfunction, pediatric sepsis definitions have not been revised since 20052 and remain based on the combination of infection and SIRS.
