Inhaled Corticosteroids and Fractures in COPD: Can We Finally Put This to Bed?
[摘要] Despite the widespread campaign to reduce the use of inhaled corticosteroids (ICSs) for patients with COPD, ICS use is still highly prevalent in the community. In general, ICSs are only recommended for patients who are frequent exacerbators (defined as those with two or more exacerbations over the previous year) or who have been recently hospitalized with an acute exacerbation of COPD.1 However, > 60% of patients, who do not fulfill any of these criteria, are currently being prescribed long-term ICS-based therapy.
