A 33-Year-Old Woman With Progressive Dyspnea and Fatigue

[摘要] A 33-year-old woman presented to the ED with a complaint of shortness of breath and worsening fatigue for the past 2 days. The patient has a reported history of intravenous drug abuse (IVDA) in the past. Six months before this visit, she was hospitalized after developing methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus infective endocarditis. There was significant involvement of the tricuspid valve, which required the patient to undergo a tricuspid valvectomy. The patient was denied a valve replacement given her history of IVDA and was told she needed to be drug-free for a year before a replacement.
