Increased Arterial Stiffness Might Be Caused by Sympathetic Activation
[摘要] With the greatest interest we read the recent work by Wu and coworkers published in CHEST (August 2017).1 This insightful cross-sectional study revealed that restrictive spirometry pattern and reduced FVC were associated with increased arterial stiffness in a large (N = 2,961), well-documented cohort. As the authors point out, the mechanism of reduced lung function and arterial stiffness is not fully understood, but this relationship may be linked by systemic inflammation. Indeed, an association of lung function data and arterial stiffness has previously been described in patients with COPD.
