Bronchoscopy Is Not Required in Patients Being Investigated for Hemoptysis at a Rapid Access Cancer Clinic With Normal CT Scan
[摘要] We read with interest the pro-con debate regarding whether all initial episodes of hemoptysis require bronchoscopy.1,2 The rebuttal from Drs Koenig and Lakticova highlights a number of important concepts.3 They state that “a normal chest CT scan, in a patient with a self-limited event of hemoptysis, regardless of risk factors may be sufficient as the initial evaluation.” This statement is in agreement with the recent UK National Health Service Independent Cancer Taskforce Report on the National Optimal Curative Intent Management Pathway for Lung Cancer, which also does not recommend assessment of patients with self-limited hemoptysis referred to a lung cancer clinic who have a normal CT scan.
