Could Aspiration Pepsin Be Used as a Marker of Gastric Reflux?

[摘要] We read with great interest the article entitled “The potential role of aspiration in the asthmatic airway,” published in a recent issue of CHEST (June 2017),¹ which focused on whether aspiration occurs in patients with asthma and if it correlates with asthma control. The authors reported that the importance of aspiration on current asthma symptom control and exacerbation rate may be overstated. We agree with the authors’ results, which indicated there was no significant association between pepsin levels in aspiration and asthma.
