Housecleaner

[摘要] Carmen cleans my house each week. She rolls the empty trashcans up the drive to the house, turns her key in the lock and lets herself in. She strips our bed and starts the washer, wipes down the shower, scrubs toilets, sinks and floors. Sometimes I run to the store just to look busier than I am, return with cheese, avocado, milk and eggs. It’s not always a sham. There are many places I must go: car wash, pharmacy, mall and gym. I feel a twinge of something when Carmen is working, that makes me want to move, to show her I am not an idle woman.
