Not So Fast With the Foley Catheter: In Response to Intensive Monitoring of Urine Output in the Critically Ill

[摘要] Jin et al, in their CHEST publication (November 2017),¹ attempt to examine whether mortality is improved in intensive monitoring of urine output of the critically ill. This is a laudable investigation in an era of increasing awareness of health care resource utilization and the financial ramifications of catheter-associated urinary tract infections. However, we are puzzled by some inconsistencies in the results.
