Building the Future of Trial Design in PAH on Solid Ground
[摘要] During the last 2 decades, significant improvements have been achieved in the management of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). From the very first successful trial addressing the role of IV epoprostenol1 in PAH, patients not only present better hemodynamics and functional capacity with treatment but also better quality of life and survival.2 Although the development of new drugs had a significant impact in such improvements, the improvements cannot be solely attributed to this factor. New treatment strategies also represented a paradigm shift in PAH; these new strategies varied from the use of monotherapy, through the use of a second add-on therapy,3 until, more recently, upfront oral combination therapy.
