Rebuttal From Dr Weiner

[摘要] Although my esteemed colleagues and I were asked to take opposite sides of the value of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD) debate, we agree on two of three important contentions. ICD coding is laborious, frustrating, and biased, and automated coding approaches are available and continue to improve. These statements may be true; however, the third, that ICD coding is neither necessary nor helpful for advancing health care, is false.
