Los bordes del shopping center: interrogantes acerca de la fragmentación urbana en cuatro enclaves comerciales del eje norte de la región metropolitana de Buenos Aires

[摘要] The work focuses on the analysis of four tertiary enclaves in the North axis of the metropolitan region of Buenos Aires. Depending on the commercial formats and the characteristics of the implantation context, they present certain architectural and functional specificities, as well as different modes of social space appropriation which raise questions about its direct condition of fragments or insularities, recurrently referred to in recent urban studies. In this context, the work on some information layers (building footprint, types of free space, building uses, etc.) collected from satellite images and fieldwork, intends to investigate beyond the physical fence, from an "intermediate scale" of observation, what happens at the edge of shopping center, which levels of collective space porosity, functional synergies and programmatic hybridizations present and, above all, demonstrate that these relationships are not always equal. Despite the homogenizing trend of disciplinary criticism and of the very market principles that govern new retail formats, the case selection itself evidence the adaptability of shopping to different socio-territorial environments, with which establish several ways of spatial continuity and discontinuity, and consequent potential of urban structuring.
