Segregación socio-territorial en la Región Metropolitana Buenos Aires (RMBA): controversias y aportes en torno a la cuantificación de la población en villas de emergencia y asentamientos precarios. Período 2001-2010
[摘要] One way of approaching the phenomenon of urban segregation is to observe the evolution and the trend of the two extremes: informal settlements and gated communities. In the case of the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Region, it has been argued that during the previous decade there has been an extraordinary increase in population in informal settlements. Such statements led to a series of controversies about the size and evolution of this population. This article will focus on one of the poles of the phenomenon of socio-territorial segregation, referring to the quantification of the universe of analysis informal settlements in the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Region. In the first part, the theoretical-methodological aspects related to the problem of measuring the universe are discussed. In a second, the available measurements and estimates are analyzed by synthesizing the various sources of information (official and unofficial) in order to compare variations and differences. In a third, an indirect approximation of the universe of analysis is made based on the use of an own methodology that uses the micro- data of populatio census 2001 and 2010. Finally, a series of conclusions are proposed based on the analysis carried out.
