Segregación residencial socioeconómica y fragmentación urbana: reflexiones, evidencias y propuestas

[摘要] The paper addresses two main issues. On one hand the meaning of residential segregation is discussed, proposing a redefinition of the concept from a power based point of view. On the other hand we discuss the relationship between segregation and fragmentation, in theoretical terms but also on its methodological implications when residential segregation is attempted to be measured using census data. Empirical evidences are presented giving support to our arguments. Also there are some recommendations for census agencies referred to collecting data for gated communities.
