0090 The Evolution of Motor Sequence Memory Over Time and Sleep
[摘要] IntroductionSleep has been shown to facilitate the consolidation of explicit motor-sequence learning on the finger-tapping motor sequence task (MST). However, whether sleep's contribution constitutes stabilization or enhancement is currently under debate. A transient boost in performance after a short break from practice on the MST has been reported, and its magnitude has been shown to predict post-sleep performance. This boost has been proposed to represent early consolidation mechanisms or recovery from reactive inhibition (decrements in performance that build up with practice and dissipate with rest) and has been taken as evidence that the reported sleep-dependent improvement in performance is, instead, merely stabilization of pre-sleep performance levels.
