A STUDY ON THE STRUCTURAL, OPTICAL AND PHOTOVOLTAICPROPERTIES OF Fe(II) SCHIFF BASE COMPLEX WITH 5 AMINO-2,4-DICHLOROPHENOL-3,5-DITERTBUTHYSALISYLALDIMINE LIGAND
[摘要] In our present study, 5 amino-2,4-dichlorophenol-3,5-ditertbuthysalisylaldimine ligandwas synthesized and we used this ligand to prepare its-Fe(II) complex with using the wetchemical method. The structural, optical and electronic properties of Fe(II) Schiff basecomplex with ligand were characterized using the x- ray diffraction (XRD), opticalabsorption and Fourier transform- infrared (FT-IR) measurements, respectively. Thestructure of Fe(II) Schiff base complex with ligand was determined as a monoclinic crystalsystem. Two absorption bands were observed in the UV-visible region. They are assignedto intraligand and charge transfer transitions, respectively. The FT-IR spectra of Fe(II)Schiff base complex with ligand are similar to the ligand spectra. Despite the similarity, ashift toward higher frequencies was observed in the vibration modes of azomethinegroups. Furthermore, Fe(II) Schiff base complex was used as a photosensitizer on TiO2film in a DSSC device. Thus, the effect of Fe(II) Schiff base complex on the efficiency ofDSSC device was investigated and photovoltaic parameters such as power conversionefficiency (η), open circuit voltage (VOC) and short circuit current density (JSC) weredetermined. The obtained JSC and VOC value for samples is 3.75mA/cm2 and 600 mV,respectively. The η % value was calculated as 0.80. Our result leads to obtain improvedconversion efficiency of Fe(II) Schiff base complex with ligand based DSSC device.
