Comparación de la necesidad de tratamiento de ortodoncia, obtenida con los índices ICON, DAI y el componente estético del IOTN en los pacientes de la Especialidad en Ortodoncia de la Universidad Autónoma de Nayarit del 2014 al 2017

[摘要] Objective: To compare the results of the DAI, ICON and the aesthetic component of the IOTN. Methodology: the sample size was 122 study models, which were randomly selected from the archive of the Orthodontics clinic of the Autonomous University of Nayarit from 2014 to 2017 with the ICON, DAI indexes and the aesthetic component of the IOTN. We used a digital Mitutoyo calibrator, a computer, It was tabulated and descriptive statistics and Kappa tests were performed in the Microsoft Office Excel 2016 program, the correlation was made in the Statcalc program. Results: With the ICON 45% if it needed treatment and 55% did not need orthodontic treatment, with the IOTN 52% presented some type of treatment need and the DAI 72%. When evaluating the population with the three indices, they agreed in 13% that the patients did not need treatment. Conclusions: The ICON indices and the aesthetic component of IOTN present similar results when evaluating whether a patient needs orthodontic treatment, so it would be easier to use only the aesthetic component of the IOTN instead of doing the ICON. The index DAI Diagnostic with some type of orthodontic treatment need to more cases than the IOTN and ICON indexes, it is important to consider that it is the index that has more parameters to evaluate.
