Forma de arco dental en hombres y mujeres

[摘要] The correct interpretation of dental arch form is an important aspect for a stable, functional and aesthetic, if the arch form is not retained it might increase the likelihood of recurrence. Material and methods: the universe was 799 study models pretreatment of Orthodontics of which 254 met the inclusion criteria, they were selected randomly 73 cases of female sex to equal the 73 cases of male sex. It was checked the occlusal face of the study models with a template of an arch form of 3M (Unitek) previously printed in transparent acetate. Results: the oval shape of arch was present more frequently in the maxilla of men than women, followed by the shape of triangular arch in both sexes. In the women´s mandible the form presented with greater frequency was oval and in men was triangular arch. To compare the shape of the maxilla with the mandibular arch were various combinations in both sexes. Conclusions: the maxillary and mandibular dental arch form presents various combinations both in men and in women, the oval shape were presented more frequently in both sexes, the shape of dental maxilla arch with respect to the form of mandibular presents increased frequency of combinations.
