Tratamiento temprano de Maloclusión Clase III con máscara facial de protracción Morales® MINI
[摘要] Class III is a malocclusion complicated to diagnose and treat, since its main characteristic is the deformation of the maxillo-mandibular complex in the sagittal direction, caused by maxillary retrusion, mandibular prognathism or a combination of both. The etiology is multifactorial, hereditary and environmental factors participate. In the treatment of class III malocclusion in patients with primary dentition it is advisable to use the appropriate facial mask, with dimensions that allow easy adaptation and comfort for the patient. Diagnosis: Female patient of 4 years 11 months of age, presents light skeletal class III with mesofacial biotype and horizontal growth, anterior crossbite with overjet of -3 mm and overbite 4.5 mm. Treatment objectives: Transverse orthopedic and sagittal correction of class III malocclusion. Treatment: An intraoral device was placed in the upper arch in conjunction with the Morales® MINI facial mask to carry out the rapid expansion of the middle palatal suture and the maxillary protraction. When both devices were removed and periodic controls were carried out. Results: Transversal and sagittal structural changes were obtained mainly of dental and functional type with favorable facial effects. Discussion: The facial mask Morales® MINI demonstrated its functionality in the cranio-dentofacial complex correcting the alterations of the class III malocclusion. It presents greater advantages in the orthopedic treatment in early ages due to its dimensions and its easy adaptation which allows an adequate distribution of the forces obtaining evident clinical and radiographic changes
