The effect of sodium tetradecyl sulphate on coagulation and endothelium.

[摘要] Despite having been initially described more than fiftyyears ago, sclerotherapy of oesophageal varices has onlyrelatively recently became regarded as one of the primarymodalities both to control bleeding oesophageal varices andto prevent recurrent bleeding. Sclerotherapy, however, tsassociated with numerous complications and its exactmechanism of action, particularly that pertaining to itseffect on haemostasis, has to date been poorlydocumented. One of the problems of comparing the varioustrials has been the diversity of both the technique and thetype and concentration of the sclerosants used. (Abbreviation abstract)
