On Aspects Relating To A Hydrochlorination Facility For The Processing Of Refinery Precious Metal Residue Materials.

[摘要] A hydrochlorination facility was developed for tileprocessing of refinery precious metal residue materialson the laboratory and pilot scale. Hazardelements were identified and evaluated using an EventTree Analysis. An exponential technique was appliedto estimate the cost of the proposed production hydrochlorinationfacility. The estimated cost was R120 000.The Expected Present Value Ratio was +190 which indicatedsatisfactory project economics.The reactor material for the pilot scale unit wasselected using a weighted values quantitative materialselection procedure. Stainless steel Type 316L andType 310 were selected. Failure of the Type 516Lreactor occurred after 40 hours service. The mode offailure was extensive surface scaling which was attributedto the hydrogen chloride, sulphide gases and1 000 °c operating envirornment.Subject to certain provisions it would be feasible tocommission a safe and profitable production hydrochlorinationfacility. The consumable reactor concept wasbased on its replacement after 40 hours service. Thiswas justifiable because of the high value of the materialand the saving in down-stream processing costs.
