Extraction of metals from aqueous systems employing capillary-channeled polymer (C-CP) fibers modified with poly(acrylic acid) (PAA)
[摘要] Polyethyleneterephthalate(PET,polyester)capillary-channeledpolymer(C-CP)fiberswereemployedasthebasestructureforsurfacemodificationtoprovideasorbentforsolidphaseextraction(SPE)ofaqueouscations.Surfacefunctionalizationwithpolyacrylicacid(PAA)wasachievedusinga“graftingto”approach,yieldingastablesorbentthathasthepotentialofbeingemployedoveralargerangeofpHvaluesandavarietyofsamplematrices.PAAwaschosenforsurfacemodificationbecausetherepeatingacrylicacidmonomericunit,whichcontainsacarboxylicacid,hastheabilitytobindmetalions.Inamicropipette-tipSPEformat,thesePAA-functionalizedC-CPfibersshowedtheabilitytoefficientlybindseveralmetals(Cu2+,Cu+,Ni2+,Fe3+,UO22+),whileelutioncouldbeachievedwithextremelylowconcentrationsofhydrochloricacid(1mlof0.005%),resultinginoverallrecoveriesofgreaterthan88%.Asingletipwascarriedthroughouttheentirestudyasacontrol,andshowedoverallrecoveriesaveraging96%overthecourseof19extractionexperimentsanda12-monthperiod,demonstratingthechemicalstabilityofthesorbentmaterial,andsuggestingthepotentialoftheC-CPfiberSPEtipstobeusedmultipletimes...
