Diagnostic of functionality of polymer membrane – based ion selective electrodes by impedance spectroscopy
[摘要] Electrochemicalimpedancespectroscopy(EIS)isapowerfultoolfortheanalysisofvariouselectrochemicalsystemsbecauseitallowstheseparationandcharacterizationofindividualkineticprocesses.InthispaperweinvestigatewhetherchangesintheEIScharacteristicscanbeusedtodistinguishbetweensolid-stateISEmembranethathavebeensubjectedtophysicaldamage,biofoulingorleachingofactivecomponents.Weconcludethatwiththeserelativelysimpleelectronicmeasurements,wecaneffectivelyevaluatethefunctionalityoftheISEmembrane;i.e.wecanpredictwhetherthesensorsarefullyfunctional,inneedforcalibrationorarecompletelynon-functional.WebelievethiscouldformthebasisofasimplebuteffectivediagnostictoolforprobingtheconditionofremotelydeployedISEsinwidelydistributedchemo-sensornetworks(e.g.forenvironmentalmonitoring)andforenhancingthereliabilityofthesedevices.OurultimategoalistoimplementsuchtoolsinplaceofconventionalapproachestoISEtestinglikecalibrationwithstandardsolutions,whichrequiretheintegrationofcomplexandcostlyfluidics...
