Activation of NK cells is associated with HIV‐1 disease progression
[摘要] ThemainpredictorofHIV‐1diseaseprogressionisCD8+Tcellactivation,characterizedbyelevatedexpressionofCD38andHLA‐DR.NKcellsarealsoactivatedinviremicHIV‐1‐infectedindividuals.However,therelationshipbetweenNKcellactivationandHIV‐1diseaseprogressionremainsundefined.WecharacterizedNKcellactivationanditsassociationwithdiseaseprogressionintreatmentofnaiveHIV‐1‐infectedindividuals,whonaturallymaintainedlow/undetectableviremia(eliteandviremiccontrollers),comparedwithprogressorsandAIDSsubjects,andtreatedindividuals.OurresultsshowthatCD38expressiononNKcells,predominantlyinthecytotoxicCD56dimCD16+subset,isassociatedwithHIV‐1diseaseprogression(CD4+TcellcountandpVL),Tcellactivation(percentageofCD38+HLA‐DR+Tcells),sCD14,inflammation,andinnateimmuneactivation.Moreover,NKcellactivationisincreasedinHIV‐1‐infectedsubjectsprogressingtoAIDSbutnotineliteandviremiccontrollers.ARTpartiallyreducestheproportionofactivatedNKcells.Furthermore,ourresultsshowthatindividuals,whonaturallycontrolviremia,maintainlowlevelsofinnateimmuneactivationsimilartothoseofuninfectedcontrols...
