The temperature distribution in an infinitely long plate subjected to a moving distributed heat source and convection cooling
[摘要] A plate having constant thermal properties extends infinitely in one direction and has a constant rectangular cross-section normal to this direction. Present on one face is a distributed heat source moving down the plate at constant velocity. Convective cooling takes place on this face and the face parallel to it, and the remaining faces are insulated. The three-dimensional, linear, quasi-stationary boundary-value problem in heat conduction is solved by a Green's function technique. Special forms of the solution for particular heat source distributions are given, an engineering application is suggested, and numerical results are obtained showing the effect of changes in the problem parameters on the solution.
