Condensation of vapors of immiscible liquids
[摘要] Heat transfer coefficients for condensing vapors of the immiscible systems benzene-water, heptane-water, carbon tetrachloride-water, and methanol-heptane have been determined. The condensing surface used for the studies was a 2 1/2 inch diameter 3 inch long vertical brass cylinder. Correlations for these coefficients have been made by modifications of Nusselt's theory21, applied to separate condensation mechanisms.Three types of condensation were noted:1. film-drop2. film-lens3. channelingThe first two mechanisms may be described as film condensation for the wetting component, while the second component forms drops or lenses. Channeling condensation consists of the formation of separate films by each component. A theory based on the concept of the spreading coefficient is proposed as an explanation for these condensation mechanisms.
