Water resources analysis: Modeling present and projected effects of ground water pumping on water levels near Tampa, Florida

[摘要] The Northern Tampa Bay Area relies primarily on ground water to meet the needs of its population. However, the groundwater withdrawals have put a large strain on the hydrologic system and have had many detrimental effects on the local area. The effects caused by present and projected pumping of groundwater were evaluated using existing and improved numerical models. The existing model was developed by the Southwest Florida Water Management District in 1993. This research focused on improving the model's accuracy using additional information collected from 1989--1998. Predictions of ground water conditions through 2010 were made and compared to previous modeling results. The simulation results were also compared with state defined minimum level needs and current withdrawal reduction plans.
