El ratón CBA/N xid como modelo animal de inmunodeficiencia. Producción y manejo

[摘要] An important finding for the biomedical research field is the discovery and production of new immunodeficient mice strains. One of them is the CBA/N xid (xid: X-linked immunodeficiency) mouse that presents a recessive mutation in the Bruton tyrosine kinase gene (btk), linked to sex and homologous in humans. As immunocompromised and free of specific pathogens (SPF), they should be maintained under strict sanitary barriers environments.B cells show defects in its maturation and are found in low number in the peripheral blood. Their characteristics allow to identify two groups of B cells in normal mice; therefore, this strain is used in immunology and inflammation studies. They are a suitable animal model for X-linked immunodeficiency, HIV, and gene therapy research and also for human tumors investigations when the nu gene is added. These mice are an important tool in experimental medicine when they are used to perform molecular basis, pathophysiology and new therapies studies of the above mentioned diseases.
