The temperature distribution on a rotating cylindrical shell in the presence of a primary radiative source and a reflecting and radiating infinite plane
[摘要] A thin-walled conducting cylindrical shell, rotating with a constant angular velocity about its geometric axis which is oriented perpendicular to an infinite plane located at some unspecified distance from the shell, is exposed to parallel radiation. The plane is assumed to radiate and reflect heat energy diffusely. Convective heat transfer from the outer surface is neglected, but radially inward heat transfer is present and is governed by a constant overall heat transfer coefficient. The non-linear problem is approximated through a perturbation analysis to obtain a linear problem. The solution to the linear equation is found by the Green's function technique. Then some numerical results are obtained for variations in the non-dimensional parameters.
