Manejo estomatológico de un paciente pediátrico con enfermedad de Kawasaki
[摘要] The Kawasaki disease (KD) was first described in Japan by Tomisaku Kawasaki in 1967, with the name of "Mucocutaneous Lymph Node Syndrome". This is an acquired heart disease in children, characterized by systemic vasculitis, afebrile of small and medium-sized blood vessels, and whose most frequent complication is coronary aneurysm. It is a self-limiting condition and of unknown etiology. Is seen mostly in infants and children younger than 5 years of age, and its diagnosis is mainly based on clinical criteria. In the acute phase, the disease presents characteristic signs and symptoms in the oral cavity, so that the dentist may be the first to recognize the condition, and channel the patient to specialized medical care. The purpose of this report is to present the clinical characteristics and dental management of a pediatric patient with this disease.
