Evaluación de los beneficios del tratamiento de ortodoncia en pacientes de la Ciudad de Tepic, Nayarit

[摘要] The appearance of the face and the position of the teeth is an important condition for the aesthetic, functional and psychological well-being of the individual. Material and methods: A survey was applied to 200 patients older than 16 years who completed orthodontic treatment. The survey was divided into 3 parts which are: functional benefits consisting of 13 questions, aesthetic benefits consisting of 10 questions and psychological benefits consisting of 5 questions. Results: 82% of the population went to the orthodontist to improve the position of the teeth and their facial appearance, 94.5% was satisfied with the appearance of their face and the smile achieved. 80% consider that orthodontic treatment had a positive influence on their self-esteem, 58% considered that orthodontic treatment influenced to find a job or couple, while 65% think that included in social communication and 58% She considers that after orthodontic treatment her mastication improved. Conclusion. This study demonstrates that the benefits of orthodontics go beyond aesthetics, and that their impact is reflected in the oral function and psychosocial development of the patient.
