Oral Malodor producing bacteria in tongue biofilm
[摘要] Tongue coating is one of the major reasons for oral malodour. The dorsum of the tongue is a large surface for oral accumulation of microorganisms and debris which leads to putrefaction and release of volatile gases that causes malodour. Oral malodour levels in 52 subjects were assessed by gas chromatography and accordingly divided into two groups: an odour group and a no/low odour group. Tongue coatings were sampled and organisms were categorized. These results suggest that an increase in the number of H2S-producing bacteria in the tongue biofilm is responsible for oral malodour.
