Action of Aqueous Extract of Zygophyllum Album L Leaves on the Corrosion of Carbon Steel in Hydrochloric Acid Solution
[摘要] Corrosion inhibition of mild steel in hydrochloric acid solutions by the extract of Zygophyllum Album L (ZPAL) leaves has been studied using gravimetric measurements, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and potentiodynamic polarization. Inhibition efficiency was found to increase with the concentration of the inhibitor to attain 89 % at 1000 mg/L of ZPAL. Polarization curves reveal that extract of Zygophyllum Album L acts as mixed type inhibitor. Changes in impedance data were indicative of the extract adsorption on the metal surface, leading to the formation of a protective film. The thermodynamic study shows that adsorption of ZPAL proceeds via physisorption mode and obeys the Langmuir adsorption isotherm.
