Caspase‐1 as a multifunctional inflammatory mediator: noncytokine maturation roles
[摘要] Caspase‐1isaninflammatorycaspasethatisactivatedthroughformationofinflammasomecomplexesinresponsetobothpathogen‐derivedandendogenousmediators.Themostwell‐knownfunctionofactivecaspase‐1istocleavetheproformsofinflammatorycytokinesIL‐1βand‐18intotheiractiveformsinresponsetoinflammatorystimuliinimmunecells.However,recentevidencesuggeststhatcaspase‐1hasmultiplefunctionsinadditiontothiscytokinematurationroleandthatitisatthecenterofmanycellresponsestostressandinflammation.Thecurrentreviewfocusesonrolesforcaspase‐1,andthecloselyrelatedcaspase‐11,ininflammatoryformsofcelldeathandproteincleavageandalsoinproteinsecretion.Thesealternativecaspase‐1functionscaninfluenceinflammatoryresponses,notjustinimmunecellsbutinothercelltypes,suchasepithelia,whereinflammatorycytokineproductionmaynotbeaprimarycellfunction...
