Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) Program
[摘要] This program is developed to increase the share of renewable fuel as was required by the Energy Policy Act of 2005 and this standard was increased by the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007. In 2007, Congress passed the Energy Independence and Security Act (EISA)3, which required the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to make certain changes to the RFS program. The EPA released the final rule for the revised Renewable Fuels Standard Program (the revised version now known as RFS2) on February 3, 2010. The transition from RFS1 to RFS2 took place on July 1, 2010, and the RFS2 is in effect through 2022 (ICCT, 2014). The long-term target is to blend 36 billion gallons of renewable fuel into domestic transportation fuels each year by 2022 (EPA, 2015b). The current volume requirement in 2016 is 10% biofuel/bio-diesel (EPA, 2015a). RFS Standards: mandatory minimum volume of biofuels to be used in the national transportation fuel supply Targets: - RFS1: 10% biofuel/bio-diesl share in 2016 - RFS2: Volume of renewable fuel required to be blended into transportation fuel from 9 billion gallons in 2008 to 36 billion gallons by 2022
