National Environmental Protection Act
[摘要] This Act aims at establishing an effective system to conserve and protect the environment through actions led by the National Environment Commission (or administrative successors), and to promote sustainable development in an equitable manner. The National Environment Commission is defined as an "independent authority and the highest decision-making body on all matters relating to the environment and its management in the country." (Art. 20) Chapter V particularly focuses on the protection and management of forests, biodiversity and ecosystems. It states that a minimum of sixty percent of Bhutanʹs total land shall be maintained under forest cover for all time.
